Speaking to Glad over the years, she was not impresed by her name. All the other sisters names were much nicer, she said. So I wrote her this poem.
Gladys
What's in a name
You say with yours, you are not keen
When there's Sarah May
then Josephine,
Christobel; where on Earth did they find that.
She must have been drawn out of a hat.
The Marie, that's pretty too.
then along came me;
another girl called Sue.
So here we go with yours, you must not be sad
because whereever you have been in life,
you have aways been GLAD.
It proves no matter what the name, it's who you are; having a sister is a blessing.
You have always been a shining star.
Shine Bright Gladys
Goodnight GodBless

‘Rappy’ as she was fondly known, was a special part of Craven Arms. She is greatly missed by friends at the Age UK Lunch Club, The Craven Arms Tea Set and the Methodist Church. She will be fondly remembered for her determination, sense of humour and friendliness.
